But Is She Really Thirfty: Facial Cleansing with Oil

Yes. I said "oil".  Extra Virgin Olive Oil (or "EVOO" for those in the know), to be exact.  I've been doin the Oil Cleansing Method for at least a year now and really love it as a special "home spa" experience.  Don't knock it 'til you try it!  Here's the basic outline of what you need:

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil. As you get more advanced you can try other oils (like coconut)l.
  • Caster Oil. This is available at most any pharmacy. It should be under $3 for a jar of it.
  • Clean washcloth
That's it! Now, the method that I use:
  1. Take about a dime size of Caster Oil and about a quarter size of EVOO.  That is about a 20% Caster Oil to 80% EVOO. I have normal skin.  If you have dry skin, lower the Caster Oil to about 10%.  If you have oily skin, up the Caster Oil to about 30%.
  2. Rub your hands together to warm the oil up a little and then start massaging it into your face. This will remove even the most STUBBORN makeup.  Trust me.
  3. After a nice facial massage, take your clean washcloth and put very warm water on it.  Wring it out and place the washcloth on your face (yes. Oil and all!).  Let the warmth steam your skin and open your pores.  Keep the washcloth on until it cools down.
  4. Wipe your face gently with the washcloth, rinse the washcloth off and repeat the process a few more times (2-3...depending on how long your children and husband let you hide out). Don't scrub the oil off! Let it soak itself in.
  5. Pat your face dry and there you go! Lovely, glowing skin!
That really is all there is to it! If you have any more questions, go to http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/.
