But Is She Really Thirfty: Popcorn Balls

Tonight for family night we are watching Around The World In 80 Days (the original), borrowed from the library and for our treat, popcorn balls!  I had never made popcorn balls...so this was an experiment to say the least!  I think they came out just right though.  Another hit!
       Popcorn balls
1 c. Karo syrup
1/3 c. sugar
1 (3 oz.) pkg. Jello
9 c. popped popcorn
Turn your oven on to 350 degrees.  Grease a 9x13 pan. Air pop 9 cups of popcorn.  Weeee! What a mess! Pour the popcorn into the pan and put it in the oven to keep it warm. Bring sugar and syrup to boil.  I used my candy thermometer and boiled them until they reached hard crack. Reduce heat. Add Jello; stir until dissolved. Pour over popcorn.  IMPORTANT STEP: Wait a minute before putting your hands in the mix. This stuff is molten hot. Butter hands (I used PAM) and make into balls.
All in all, this was a lot of fun.  And super cheap! If you have any other dessert ideas using popcorn, let me know.  If you give me a recipe, you'll get the credit.
